Laundry: Wastewater Recycle System
(CMF) Ceramic Microfiltration
Maple Springs, a laundry located in Hickory, NC specializing
in the hospitality and healthcare service industries, found
that even with state-of-the-art washer technology, increasing
water costs and various restrictions in the availability of
water, steps had to be taken to assure them of their industry
lifeblood, WATER. Maple Springs processes approximately 500,000
pounds of laundry a week of linens and other laundry products,
and uses about 2.5MM gallons of fresh water each month.
According to Lee Bell, general manager, natural gas prices
have gone up, with water and sewer cost increases soon to
follow. System payback will be under three years.
Kemco Systems, Clearwater, Florida designed, engineered and
installed a Microfiltration and Nanofiltration System
that would recycle the laundry wastewater
by removing all suspended solids, oils and greases and a portion
of dissolved solids such as Magnesium, Calcium Carbonates,
and other dissolved contaminates. The recycled water passed
Maple Spring’s stringent quality standards in order
to successfully meet the needs of their laundry operation.
This total system successfully removes 99% of Suspended Solids,
99% of Oils and Greases, and approximately 50% of Total Dissolved
Solids.
As a result of this installation, Maple Springs recycles
over 50,000 gallons each day back into their laundry
process, resulting in a fresh water savings of over
1,000,000 gallons per month.
